Straight hair?

I have wavy hair, what is a good way to make hair straight but protect it from the heat!?!? any good heat protectants?

the ones i have tried are:

chi: iron guard

nexxus: heat protex

and biosilk, i hated them all, someone please tell me your routine with hair bc i hate showing up at school with wet hair, its my pet peeve

Straight hair?
my routine is :

1. put in PAUL MITCHELL heat protetctant

2.use Dove Straight and smooth cream

3. put hair in to layers

4. Spray hair with Hairspray

5. straighten hair

6. brush hair out

I usually straten it the nite b4 and touch it up in the mornin

Reply:Wash hair with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, like Dove or Pantene or Herbal Essence has a new line out. Then towel try and add straightening creme from Loreal called Hot Straight. It comes in a bright pink bottle and is heat activated especially for flat irons but also works for blow dryers. Next dry hair in sections using round brush (preferably ceramic) and a blow dryer. When completely dry use flat iron on about one inch sections of hair. You can use an anti-frizz finishing creme help control fly a ways. I like one by VO5 it comes in a bright red tube. Just put a quarter sized amount (more or less according to length) into hand rub together and run through hair avoiding the roots and paying close attention to the ends.

Reply:Ok i would like to know what you hated about them but heres another option Biolage Fortifying Heat protectant. Which is a lite cream but usually biolage for being natural stuff goes well with most people. I have used many and i really like that one. I have lots of wavy hair and seems like is not really heavy on my hair so if you have fine maybe just using enough will be good. Now for the last step , shine and smooth frizzies i used Biosilk oil you now but also loved redken smoothing serum on the smoothing line which is a brown pump.

After I get home from school I hop in the shower, I dry it and straighten it that night and then the next morning I go over my hair one more time really quick with the straightner (to get rid of morning hair) then I go to school.... *repeat cycle*

What to do with my thick poofy hair..?

I have really extra-ordinary thick hair...I had layers but they kind of grew out so its like slight bangs from the sides...My hairs not that frizzy just poofy because its so thick...

Well I want to do something rather than just sticking it in a ponytail...Some products I have at home are...biosilk silk therapy,garnier fructis anti-frizz serum,mousse(sp?),and other random hair products...I have a blow-dryer and a straightener(which doesnt work too well),and a curling iron(never used).....Any suggestions/styling tips-casual-fancy would be great

ask for them to cut i above the shoulders and below the chin with small angles and no layers. if you have poofy hair, ur gonna end up having a bad hair day, and the layers will be in all the wrong places. anyways, dont ask 4 layers again!! but ask then to take a pair of thinning shears and thin the hair out dramatically, but tell them u dont want thin hair, u want fine hair. also, get a color gloss, that will help it regain natural shine. i agree, CHI is a great kind of flat iron for the days you want it straight, but if you want it curly, get a small barrell, and a thick barrel curling iron and do valumtious curls every where around you head.

once youve gotton home and showered for work/school, leave the hair wet and apply a shine boost that keeps the hair gorgeous and lightweight. i suggest pure color shine boody with anti fade complex. its in a squarish pink bottle at most good salons. if your having a bad hair day, and dont have time to set out your do', then accesorize, pullit back, but add a funky broach or slick it all the way up to a sleek stylish bun.

Reply:My hair used to be poofy. Maybe you need a haircut. Turns out, that my stylist forgot to thin my top layer, so I got this mushroom head look. Maybe you should go to a professional stylist and ask if your haircut was done right, and ask about how to prevent other problems.

Well basically I had really awesome hair once, but it was totally by chance.

I was too lazy to fully dry my hair, so I only half-dried it, slept on it, woke up and I had funky kinky hair.

That would only work if you have straight hair w/ lots of wavy kinks ... it's hard to explain.

Reply:i have the same hair.... i like to use either tresseme mouse or this extra strong hold mouse at ulta beauty anyway.... i use that and i make sure not to miss an inch of myhiar becuase... believe me people WILL notice.... any way.. after that is appled... do not touch it cuz the oil in your skin and the texture of ur fingers will take out the texture of what to mouse did. **you dont have to do this but it gives it curl: get a dry towel and put it in ur hands and scrunch ur hair in it DO NOT TOUCH AFTER.... let it dry for about 2 minutes by air then spray some hairspray in it and then it ok to touch =] hope it works

I have been having a problem with my hair breaking for some time now. My hair is very thick and full of volume, but it still seems to break alot more than normal not too far from the root (a inch or so sometimes). I'll have what seems like a large amount breaking each day. I've switched shampoo and conditions to BIosilk Shampoo and Biolage volume conditioner, as well as Redkin Extreme Anti-Snap leave in conditioner, and it feels healthier, but I'm thinking the current breakage may be tied to my styling habits (blow-drying with an ionizing hair dryer and flatening with a ceramic iron using Redkin Smooth Down oil). I also use non-alcohol based holding cremes. I believe I may be doing it too often, but I don't know how often I should be doing this without breaking the hair. My hair also tends to get rather oily after 24 hours, so I wash it daily. What should I do?

Keeping hair from breaking?
Keep using the Anti-Snap. Cat is another great protein treatment from the same Extream line by Redken.

Do NOT put ur hair into a pony while wet or twist it up into a towel and leave it. Also when combing it out use a very wide toothed comb starting at the ends work ur way up.

everytime I do those broken hairs fly every where. I would love to make it look pretty without having to glue it down to my head with hair spray. Does it need more conditioning or something else. Here is the whole run down on my hair. It is color treated Med. Brown (natural hair color is a sand blonde). Every morning I wake up it must be washed or it has enough oil in it to fry chicken. It is shoulder length with bangs and cut into long layers for when I want to curl it. (Which isn't very often) Maybe once a month. I am already using Loreal shampoo for volumn. John Frieda condition for brunettes. John Frieda hair glaze. And the Biosilk (hair oil) only on the ends to help keep them from splitting.

HELP ME! I want that perfect flawless hair I see on TV. Does any one here know there tricks?

Constantly wearing your hair in a ponytail is what is causing the breakage. Your hair is already weak to begin with from coloring. Switch to an organic shampoo that doesn't contain sodium laurel sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate. Use a deep conditioner about once or twice a week. Only apply shampoo to your scalp, when you rinse the shampoo will drift over the rest of your hair and clean it without stripping it.

Reply:i didnt have to read far to see your problem.....you have color treated hair that tends to make breakage and if you wear it in a ponytail a lot that tends to break hair off too.....( and dont pull hair out either) no matter how much you want to in this situation. I would say stop coloring it let it get healthy again......that is what i did and then i went back to coloring it again and the breakage occured once again......LEAVE IT ALONE

Before i bought a chi flat iron i had countless relaxers done. I still wasn't satisfied with the results of the chi iron, my hair looked fried, puffy, and straw -like. i bought Biosilk because i heard great reviews on that to, my hair somewhat improved but not a noticable change. Hearing from the popularity and results, i got my hair japanese straightened, it only lasted me for about a month! my hair reacted to it similar as a relaxer would. i'm a intern for a very upscale fashion company, i am expected to come into work with PERFECT hair, i can't get my curly hair back nor would i want to because of the before japanese straightening, it's permanent on my hair, i have split ends which i am getting cut soon and now my new growth is coming in PLEASE HELP ME! I AM WILLING TO TRY ANYTHING!

Flat Irons JuSt DonT WORK!?
Well there are several options.....first are you( if not, give it a try) taking pretty small partings when you flat iron your hair? It takes a while but works fairly well...If your hair seems puffy its generally just because it's not all the way smooth. Also, do you have anything you put in your hair before flat ironing or blow drying....there are some great products that are made just for flat ironing your hair -- they help smooth the cuticle...also on the when using your Biosilk or CHI drops rub the product in your hands for a minute first. Have you considered cutting your hair into a different style while you wait for your straightener to grow out. Research good styles for your face shape and lifestyle (i.e.--how long do you want to doing your hair in the morning?? ..etc) Just be careful if you color anything -- I recommend going to a salon and make sure you tell them about all the other chemicals that you've had on your hair ( some realxers don't mix with color, it'll kill your hair) Good Luck, It will take some patience but you'll make it...Also try Redken Heavy Cream, it will be a good conditioning treatment, all the flat ironing and chemical processing can really dry out your hair!

Reply:i have a flat iron called remington and it works perfect if you have the time to straighten your hair. Then after straightening it put some gloss spray on it then comb it out and then its not puffy or frizzy. You can but it at target for 26.00 also it straightens your hair if it is wet or if it is dry. But take ur time straightening ur hair or otherwise it looks crumy.

Reply:Girl, I have very curly hair, and I use this wonderful tool! It is a flat iron from Conair. It is red and black on the outside and cyramic gold on the inside. It's about one inch wide. It costs close to $50 dollars but is every bit worth the money!!!!!! I promise! You should use it on a very high setting for best results, but don't burn your hair. I am sorry, but I forgot the name, but you can find it in beauty supply stores. Look for the one that I described. It's distinctive looking, even on the box. I also recommend to protect your hair while flat ironing it by using Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum about $16. Worth the price as well and it lasts so long. IT IS THE BOMB! A MIRACLE WITH THE FLAT IRON!

I've got long-ish naturally curly hair which is always at least a little bit frizzy. even on good days!! I currently use biosilk silk therepy, but it doesn't do what i would like. i want the really pretty ringlets with no frizz! i already have the ringlets i just need to loose the frizz somehow.... any sugestions?

Reply:Biosilk has too much alcohol, and shine drop products are kinda light for what you are wanting. Try Regis Duel Action Gel Mousse. Its not a typical mousse that gives you the wet look. Put in lots and rake your hair with wide fingers, scrunch with a towel, then diffuse gently (don't fluff or tousle). Once its dry, scrunch to soften. It won't fizz and it won't look wet. You'll have large, clumpy ringlets. That is exactly what it does to my hair. Best stuff ever.

I just recently got my haircut (I grew it out for about 2 years). It's pretty long, about to almost my chin. Anyway I got it cut and right after it was cut it felt amazing and I could run my fingers through it and what not, my hairstylist used a flat iron on my hair and I loved the results, it looked badass! now I've been doing it my self for about 2 months I use "Sunsilk frizzy cream, Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum, and Biosilk Silk Therapy" in my hair after everyshower, I take a shower every other day or every other 2 days. The thing is I can't run my fingers through my hair as easily as I could 2 months ago and it feels pretty bad compared to what it was 2 months ago :(, do tell me what you guys think because I'm somewhat ignorant when it comes to hair, also I only flat iron my hair for 15-25 minutes every other or every other 2 days... it looks a bit dry too! Silicones have a low boiling point, and some are small enough to penetrate the hair shaft, below the cuticle.

So, just imagine this.. you apply a product containing silicone, and remembering a percentage of the molecules will be below the cuticle, then you use your hair iron %26amp; boil the silicone molecules.

The molecules above the cuticle are not too bad, however the ones that have penetrated the hair boil internally %26amp; cause severe structural %26amp; cuticle damage to your hair....

Reply:before drying your hair, make sure to apply a moisturizer on it to prevent it from drying out while straightening it.
Reply:The best way to find the best products for your hair is to try them all. That would be pretty expensive but go over to a friends house and use some of her stuff. See how it works, and just keep trying new things. Hair may work with products from this company and not that company....it's all trial and error.

If I can suggest something, I would suggest you try a hot oil treatment....for a cheaper way to have great soft and silky hair with less frizzies, warm up some olive oil (regular cooking stuff) in the microwave and massage it into your hair while it is dry. Wrap it up in a warm towel from the drier and sit for an hour or so. Maybe give yourself a facial at the same time. Then get in the shower, and shampoo out all the oil (because water won't get the oil out--oil and water don't mix) and then condition your hair. Viola! Beautiful silky hair.

The most key thing to protecting your locks is to stay away from all heat. Yep, that means no hairdrier, no straightner, no curling iron either....It's very hard not to advert to these products but just try it for a week. Don't blow dry your hair for a week....try it. I know it's hard not to but if you stay away from things with heat such as blow driers, curling irons, straightners, etc....you will notice a HUGE change in the feel and look of your hair. It will be so much more healthy.
Reply:You are likely over moisturizing. Believe it or not too much moisturizer can make your hair feel "dry". All heat sources will damage your hair. Even though you do not use it for long periods or everday you hair is not living, it is a dead extension made of protein just as your nails are. Every time you apply heat, the damage progresses and cannot be reversed. You can mask the damage but growing new hair is the only way to remove it. Use one simple mositurizer on your hair after washing and rinse thoroughly. You can use a heavier conditioner once a week or every other week as a treatment to help smooth the damaged hair. I would limit the heat source to avoid more damage.
Reply:The flat iron is drying your hair and you have to get a trim because it has been two months and it's time.

I prefer the Maxiglide by Maxiusbeauty.com because it incorporates steam to smooth out your hair without frying it like a flat iron would.

If the flat iron has a lower setting, you might want to experiment until your heating level is just warm enough to smooth out your hair without destroying it.

If there is a way you can go a little longer between using the iron, the healthier your hair will be. If you wear your hair flat and smooth, you might want to wrap your hair at night.

You would:

Brush your hair around your head and pin it up with flat hair clips. Then, tie your hair with a silk or satin scarf.

In the morning, let your hair down and comb and lightly brush your hair into your style.

Your products are fine but be careful handling the flat iron.

my hair is a little longer than shoulder length almost to my bra strap and cut around my face, the typical cut, i have it permed maybe every 2 months, i use a flat iron and large curling iron on it, to change it from straight to curley, its all over the floor when i get through and getting shorter and shorter, i try not to put too much heat on it, and i use biosilk to smooth it , what can i do or what am i doing wrong?

Reply:All of the above advice is good. (I am bi-racial and an African American hairstylist recommended Biosilk to me, but I really didn't like it except as a finishing gloss.) Use a hot oil treatment, gentle shampoo and deep conditioner everytime you shampoo. Try not to use heat to style your hair everyday. Instead, every three days or even weekly, you could use a round brush and a hair dryer on low to straighten your hair, or let it air dry and then use hot rollers. At all times be very gentle with your hair, it is special to you and sounds beautiful.

Do you think the perms may be causing damage? Make sure you follow the instructions and don't wash your hair the day before. Or you might want to stop perming your hair. It sounds weird but I have been using Palmer's Shea butter lotion to smooth out my hair in really dry spots and it actually works great as long as you only use a touch where you need it.

Reply:if the hair is super straight and fine, then probably it will be easier to use some sticky product. but if the hair is kind of rough or damaged, then not really
Reply:I have such fine and thin hair that I have to hair spray it or otherwise all the teasing I just did will fall out in a matter of minutes.
Reply:every spray you just mentioned is silicone based. that provides slip,and your 'tease' won't hold. you should try a hair powder. sprayed at the roots, it adds volume and grip.

i use bumble and bumble hair powder. it's in an aerosol can. it comes in different colors, and they blend roots away too. just spray it on in a sweeping motion, wait a minute, shake it out, and tease, tease tease....

tons of volume, and lots of staying power.

Reply:If you tease your hair, you need to put hairspray in for it to stay big. Personally, on my hair (relatively thick, razor cut, dark brown) I find that none of the more expensive hair sprays work, I buy home brand haha. It works like a charm, stays in and smells the best :) Of course, eventually the tease is going to go down, but hairspray should make it stay in a fair bit longer.

Hair issues for naturally curly hair?

I need help from people with experience with curly hair and/or stylists!! I have naturally curly shoulder length hair. Over the years, and two children later, my hair is SO different and unruly!

The problem:

1.) VERY dry and frizzy. Especially on the top of my head. When I'm finished styling it, there is a halo of frizz sticking up. My hair feels like straw. Literally.

2.) Overprocessed. I've had it colored pretty much every 6 wks. in the last year. Highlights and lowlights. Used to highlight maybe twice a yr.

My typical routine/products:

I shampoo about every other day. Sometimes daily. (I know everyone says shampoo less often, but it's hard!) I've been using Pantene for curls for S %26amp; C. Deep cond occasionally, like Neutrogena mask. To dry I've been wrapping hair in an old t-shirt. (Some random tip I read.) Leave in cond, FrizzEase mousse, dry with diffuser, frizz product. (I've tried biosilk, glass drops by PM, Rusk, Fekkai gloss cream, etc, etc.

PLEASE I need advice!! Thx!

Hair issues for naturally curly hair?
Another girl asked this same question yesterday and this is the answer I gave her.

"I have the same hair, overprocessed and a natural poof. When i want more defined curls I usually shower at night and then while my hair is wet I'll rub shine serum through it and then I'll take strands and curl them loosely( not tight ) around my finger and then bobby pin the curl. I do about 40 strands and then spray it with a very little bit of light hold hair spray, go to sleep, wake up take out the bobby pins and ,wallah , i have bouncy (not tight) full locks of soft curly hair. it works really well."

Other things I can suggest are getting a relaxer for your hair, it will calm it down tremendously. I really like Redken shampoos and conditioners for my hair too. The All Soft works the best.

Your hair cleaning process is probably incorrect as well. When you shampoo your hair, you should be massaging the scalp and giving the shampoo time to penetrate into the hair cuticles, so let the shampoo sit for about 2 to 5 minutes. the same with conditoner, allow it time to penetrate and do its magic. Rinse out shampoo and conditioner with cold water when you're all done, another frizz reducing trick.

To start, you should start washing your hair every third day. Especially if your hair is dry already. If you are having a hard time with that, you can buy some dry shampoo and sprinkle it in your hair for those days you want to wash but shouldn't

The more you highlight your hair, the drier it's going to become. If you want healthier hair, make your hair darker, not lighter. If you must go lighter, make sure you are using a good conditioner.

Bed Head is a good product line for color treated hair. You can pick a shampoo and conditioner based on your hair.

Your hair might be feeling greasy because you are putting too many products in it. If you are using a leave in conditioner, you should not be using a regular one in the shower.

Another product you may want to try is Kiwi by Loreal. You can get the shine spray to tame those frizzies.

Reply:Hi there. I too have naturally curly hair %26amp; after years of tinkering with it %26amp; product experimentation I have finally found something that works.

1st STOP washing your hair with that horrible crapTene. You might as well be washing your hair in rubbing alcohol. Those drug store product contain drying agents that strip your hair of its natural oil %26amp; cause more nasty frizz. Yes salon products are different they are made with more moisturizing agents. I understand the need to wash your hair daily but if you must Use a sulphate free shampoo to wash your hair with. Try Devacare No Poo or Lo Poo most of the time. Then maybe 2x a month use a shampoo that contains sulfates but make sure its mosturizing and specific to curly hair.

2. Condition your hair everyday. In fact you really should just run conditioner through your hair daily instead of shampooing. I like the Devacare 1 conditioner, but the Redken Moist Curls conditioner works well as well as the Bumble %26amp; Bumble curly hair conditioner.

3. After your rinse out the conditioner take a little bit %26amp; run it through your hair top to end but dont rinse out. Squeeze out ALL the excess water but dont towel dry your hair. DONT wrap a towel or shirt or anything. Just squeeze out the water %26amp; clip your hair up.

4. Products. STOP using anything with alcohol in it as it only dries your hair out and causes frizz. Mousse has tons of alcohol %26amp; its volumizing -- ie. just makes your hair frizzier. Use a product specific for curly hair. Aveda Be Curly styling cream, Devacare Angell, Bumble %26amp; Bumble curly styling gel etc.

5. Part your hair into 2 sections. Then run the product from root to ends of your hair. Then use a bit more product to style your hair - depart. Just let your hair dry naturally. DO NOT use a blow dryer but if you must use a LARGE diffuser. Set the dryer on cool and keep it as far away from your hair as possible %26amp; dry slightly.

6. DONT TOUCH your hair while its wet. Once its dry you can run a little bit of glossing/anti frizz serum like FrizzEase in your hair. DONT COMB or rub the curls. Just kinda fluff the serum into your hair.

7. For the overprocessing issue. You should use a deep conditioner 1x a month. Try to get a protein based deep conditioner like Phytojojoba or the like. Dont use it more than 1x a month as it'll make your hair more brittle.

Yes this seems like a lot of work but its not. Your actually going to use less product %26amp; spend less time dealing with your hair. Remember less is more.

Reply:I think part of the problem is using products with sililcones and sulfates. The plastic just coats your curls and looks good for a bit and then the dryness and frizz sets in because of all the plastic build up. The sulfates just cause dryness. A good cleanser and conditioner without sulfates is Devacurl. The Care line of this product is great for color treated curls. Use your pantene once a week just to clarify if you want to. Good curl products that are water based are Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper which you put on when hair is really wet. After the tshirt drying which is a great idea! Reply:Couple things to try: don't blow dry, even with diffuser. Let it air dry. Try using conditioner in the shower, rinse, then put a little bit more in and leave it in (doesn't have to be specifically leave in conditioner). Scrunch hair with towel to get out some of the moisture, then let air dry. If you can, do your hair at night, including gel or mousse, then let it dry naturally overnight. You should wake up with the best hair ever. If all else fails, straighten it with a Chi (and only a chi) straightening iron. If you do this for a few days in a row, chances are your curls will relax a bit on their own.

Reply:My long hair is very fine, rather thin %26amp; curly. I really make an effort not to torture my locks. I looked up natural / homemade hair conditioner recipes. Some say mayonnaise, some say a blend of mashed avacado %26amp; mayo. I like plain mayo. I put it on clean hair (no products left on like spray or mousse) but not wet hair. Then I put on a shower cap %26amp; a ski cap, %26amp; wear for an hour or so. Wash well. Also, I find that Pantene dries my hair out. I use Triple Moisturizing Neutrogena shampoo %26amp; conditioner. I love their shine serum oil. Another tip said to rinse with the coldest water you can stand when you wash you hair. This causes the cuticle to lie flat.

I also am hypOthryroid which can cause hair to be dry %26amp; break easily. You may want to be checked for that as it can lead to serious other issues.

the frizz ease stuff literally gives you frizz I used it.

try using Garnier fructis sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner, wash hair every day use the conditioner every other day otherwise you'll get a build up so then when you get out put some length and strength cream in your hair by garnier, then after you work that through your hair put a little bit of anti frizz cream in your hair by obviously garnier.

then brush it through your hair and and part it where ever, take and twirl little sections of your hair around your finger so it looks like a spiral then when you've done that with all your hair use your diffuser but don't take it all the way up to your scalp only do it on the tips then when the tips are dry leave the top part a little damp and and let it air dry.

trust me it worked for me and it took me along time to figure out this stuff but try it because it sounds like my hair.

I have a good straightener. It has ceramic plates and was expensive. Now my hair is healthy and is shiny when I dry it naturally. But when I straighten it, I want it to be really silky and shiny. Any recommendations? I tried biosilk but for some reason, it doesn't work on my hair. I know it doesn't work on everyone though. I also use matrix sleek styling cream which makes it softer, but I want SHINE! ; )

To get rid of frizz, I use Bedhead's Spoil Me. You just spray it on your hair to prevent flyaways. Then I use RedKen's Glass for shine. You can use it on dry or damp hair.

I'll be honest.... being that I've been in the hair industry for almost 8 years now, I used to use the Chi Iron when I worked in the salon.

I had to buy 4 because each and every one of my Chi's broke down! Those are one of the most horrible iron's I've ever used. And it's not just me. Everyone in my salon went through this. Tons of wasted money on those things.

You want sleek and smooth hair? The BEST product that you can use, and it's so much more less expensive than buying an iron, is called Super Skinny Shampoo and Treatment.

I have straight hair as well, but it gets poofy too. Almost frizzy poofy! This shampoo and conditioner is made by Paul Mitchell. You HAVE to buy it in a salon. Any salon that sells Paul Mitchell will have it. (And it smells great!!! you'll fall in love with just the scent of it alone!)

There is also a serum that goes along with it. You put only about one or two pumps into your hands and run it through your towel dried hair, blow dry and using these products all together, you're going to have the shiniest silkiest smoothest hair you've always wanted!

But, remember, you have to buy this stuff in a salon. Its not that expensive either, and you only need to use a small small SMALL amount! Only about a quarter sized amount of the shampoo and conditioner, and only up to TWO pumps of the serum. It should last you a good six months, too.

I use biosilk when it is wet, let it dry natural and then flat iron it and put a little more biosilk for my flyaways in the front, not too much though! In the last two years, my hair has been bleached and redyed three times (please, don't criticize me, I realize how stupid this was). It's brown and I originally dyed it black and my husband hated it so I had to bleach it and I also put some highlights in it. Then, I decided to go ALL LIGHT blonde. That was too expensive to keep getting my roots done so I went back to brown (from a bottle).

Now, my hair will NOT hold color virtually AT ALL. After two shampoos with very expensive Wella hair care for color trated hair AND with cool water, the color is virtually gone. I'm left with brassy/orangish colored ends that feel like horses hair.

After I get out of the shower (wella shampoo and conditioner) I put a leave in conditioner/detangler on and then Biosilk on the bottom half of my hair (the dry parts).

Any suggestions? (please!!!) lol

DEEP CONDITIONING! leave it in for about 2-3 hours and hold a hair dryer to it so it can work better do it every 2 weeks. also the reason why it dont catch the color is b/c you have dyed it too much so your hair doesnt hold the color in it. so i suggest using those semi permanent to cover that color you have right now but no permanent color though the more you dye it the worse it will get.

semi perm. colors dont damage as much as permanent color so its ok to use,

deep treatment lots of it and get good deep conditioner not those cheap ones or hot oil ones they dont work. if you can try getting a brand called emergency 911they sell it in one time packets or bottle its kinda pricy butit will really help your hair.
Reply:if you're dying yourself, then make sure that you're not using washout dye. also try to get a kit that comes with a tube of color-saving condition, because its stronger than other color-safe conditioners. for highlights try john freida's highlight activating line.

A Chi hair straightner works the best! They retail for about $100.00 or so, but I got a brand new one on E-Bay for $25.00. The Chi brand hair serum works the best I think too, for the silky and glossy look. Just make sure to use a leave in conditioner so you aren't damaging your hair too much, or you won't get a silky look, but a very dried out look instead. Good luck to you and I hope this helped!

Buy the Chi along with the Chi silk infusion serum and I would be extremely suprised if it didn't work for you. If your hair is very dried out ceramic irons won't do much so keep that in mind as well.

Reply:First off what kind of condition is your hair in? If you have been straightening it alot without the right product, it could be pretty dried out. So perhaps you should consider asking your hairdresser to put a treatment in it. You can alos buy these treatments yourself from hairdresser supply shops, like kerastase. Then you need to use a mosturising conditioner. You could try using a pre treatment spray, like GHD oil. It stops the straigtener damaging the hair as much. After wards put a gloss in your hair. Clinique have a great one. You can get all this stuff on strawberrynet.com, who are really cheap, well, for Europe anyway!

I have Biosilk Silk Thereapy. It says "Cure Soyeuse" on the bottle. Will this help stop frizz? Since it's flammable, is it still okay if I use the blowdryer? Ok, my hair is naturally slightly wavy...(but by no means straight) and is kinda damaged (frizzy, some split ends). I have such problems with my hair. I try to straighten my hair, but it ends up looking like...well, crud. I put in all of those hair products but they don't seem to work, even BioSilk (maybe I'm using it wrong?) and my hair just ends up...unmovable, kinda plastered with weird waves and really icky. Especially the back. So I need some help!!!! Products, tips??

Also, how can I enhance my natural wave?

Hey I got the same problem and my back part of my hair gets a puffy and frizzy!! The best u can do is deep condition ur hair and then when ur done put hair cream that is good for frizzy hair(like my hair) and blow dry not all the way thought and then use the straightner thats wat I do and ppl been thinkin I have nautrally straight hair lol wish u luck with ur hair u should maybe try putting a little bit oil to make it more stuff but not to much or ur hair will smell bad

I have an 150$ iron and its well worth it. remember to straighten ur hair by small sections. don't just grab one side and straighten it then assume its all gonna be perfectly straight..u say ur hairs damaged? maybe its time to trim the burned ends..

I have read that Biosilk was one of the best serums to use for straightening. I have been using Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum. I Really like it a lot. Since I am a product junkie, I am always looking for something better and sometimes something cheaper. There are so many silicon cone based serum on the market and I am having trouble deciding what to buy next. Can anyone suggest a good product that would make my super thick curly hair straight. Oil/silicone/wax based products only. Cream products make my hair frizzy.

I have used both Biosilk and the Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum. Paul Mitchell's works the same but gives you a lot more product for your money. You could also try using a straighting shampoo and a tiny bit of Biosilk Silk Polish shining paste. Use a brush and blow dry your hair straight.

Reply:The best product I have found is Aveda anti-humectant. Ask for application advice in the store because if you put on too much, your hair looks really gross and greasy, but not enough doesn't do anything. It won't stay board straight in the humidity, but it definitely helps. No frizz and no fly-aways. It is expensive, but depending on how long and how thick your hair is, it can last for more than 6 months :)

the shampoo i'm using right now sounds a little weird but it works great with a straightner! the brand is La Bella and the shampoo and conditioner have the word Placenta on the bottle. you have to leave the stuff in as long as it says or else it won't work like it says it will.

ABOUT THE STRAIGHTNER:

the one i use is a Revlon Nano Ceramic and it works great but it's about 40.00 dollars and is well worth it. The cheaper a straightner is then the worse it will probably work. Sorry and GOOD LUCK!

Ok, here is the problem. I have long curly hair that I straighten on occasion. I use biosilk and a hot iron like the chi. The highlighted parts of hair has started to break off ( I have not highlighted my hair for 6 months now) and the re growth is only 3 to 4 inches long. I don't know what's in for curly hair ( cuts and styles) that can also be straightened and still look good. I am also sick of the color, though natural, I want to try something new. I don't want to have someone else do my hair because no matter where I go or how much I am charged I am not happy with results. They always jack up my hair. You have really pretty curls. My hair is naturally frizzy and i use loads of product to weigh it down so its curly. I know what you are talking about with people ruining your hair. One thing I learned to do is ask a person how comfortable they are cutting curly hair first , it draws up so much. The truth is the best person to cut my hair happened to be black. The lady i go to knows how overly curly hair reacts when you cut it. My advice go in knowing your style. Don't let people influence your choice when you are in the chair. That is when i make my biggest mistake

Reply:First you need to deep condition your hair ( make sure it has protein in it so your hair stops breaking off). I always look for someone with the same type of hair as mine when I get it cut. No matter what they say not everyone can cut curly hair. If you are sick of coloring it try a glaze. Basically it's something thats going to just brighten your hair, not color it. You could also get a clear shine put on. Neither of these are damaging to your hair and there is no up keep on them. You do them when you want and there is no line when your hair grows in because it's not changing the color of your hair. Hope this helps a little! By the way curly hair with long layers is the look now.

I straighten my hair a lot. My whole head isn't in TERRIBLE condition, but it's not great either. Basically, my roots and about halfway down my head is good. But the rest of my hair is dry and my ends are split really bad. I've trimmed off all the split end but there's still a lot of dry hair. I plan on letting my hair grow and just keep getting the ends trimmed off until my hair grows out completely healthy again. In the meantime though, anyone know any products to help my hair - shampoos, conditioners, masques, treatments, styling products? Right now I use L'Oreal Nutri Gloss shampoo and conditioner, and I switch off between Redken Anti-Snap and Biosilk therapy

Help out my hair?
My hair use to be really dried out from straightening it and even more so through a dye disaster. It felt horrible so I talked to people at hair salons and they suggested a protein treatment. It's not that expensive and they basically wash your hair, add the protein treatment which puts protein and nutrients back into your hair, let it dry and then wash it out. It works great and your hair will feel perfectly healthy again. In the meantime I would use a leave in conditioner in your hair and go a couple of days not shampooing your hair but just washing it with conditioner. Shampoo tends to dry it out. Garnier Fructis has some good leave-in deep conditioning products. Just make sure they say deep conditioning since that is what will really help restore moisture to your hair. Good luck!

Reply:Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo/conditioner is good (and it smells great) but you don't wanna use too much on your hair. Right now just keep it easy. Don't dry your hair with a hairdryer and before you go in the pool put in a leave in conditioner. If you can find a sunscreen for your hair that will help it from any uv damage. I hope this helps!

Reply:I read if you sometimes skip shampoo and use just conditioner your hair won't be as frizzy. I would just suggest not straigtening your hair as much. But that is what dries your hair out, there isn't anything you can do about that.

I've decided to grow my hair out and I'm willing to do what it takes to manage it...IE blowdry and yes even use a Sedu flat Iron...I will also use a lot of products along the way to protect it, but I just do not know what thermal protectant to use before I blow dry my hair...I will be more than likely be using BioSilk Therapy before using a flat Iron...and use PHYTO's brand along the way as far as the need for heavy moisture is concerned.

But my 2nd question is, what do women think of (straight) guys with long hair....

and what is your reaction when you see a guy and notice the fact that he has used a flat iron and etc...do you think it takes away from his masculinity?

I personally detest the look of a man with long hair. That being said, being well groomed is always a plus. You can't generally tell a person's product choices by the style they wear unless he or she talks at length about them. I would suggest (if you decide you must have long hair) to wear it casually, no matter what your grooming routine, meaning once you get out into public your attitude should convey that's the way you rolled out of bed. I think it's a confidence thing...if you don't call attention to your appearance (verbally, or with tics like constantly fussing/fixing) it suggests that you are confident with how you look. And, as is generally acknowledged, confidence is attractive in a man.

Reply:Personally i think that long hair on guys looks okay to just above shoulder length ( Bobbed Type Hairstyle) and think that you should just wash your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner, lightly towel dry it and brush it or comb into desired shape and let it air dry to accentaute any natural waves or curls in it

you should also put a deep conditioner on it every month and get your hair trimmed every two months to remove any split ends

I take it that as you mention straigthener's that your hair is either curly or very way

I personally would not use straigteners as heat can damage your hair, I normally use the Largest rollers possible to give Curly hair more volume and less curl. But as you are a guy you probably would not entertain this

I'm cutting my hair short and dying it blonde - something like Jessica SImpson's new style. My hair's wavy so I'm gonna have straighten it constantly which I don't mind but does anyone have any tips for what kind of heat protectant spray to use before straightening it? I already use biosilk to help with the shine and frizz. I'm gonna use treatments and hot oil on the side, hopefully it'l help. If you have any other tips to repair my soon-to-be dead hair, help!

Reply:I have not tried the biosilk (although I love their other products). I used Redken All Soft for two years and thought it was the best ever. Then this past spring I tried sleek. look by Matrix and I have not used Redken since!! I have frizzy color treated hair and this shampoo/conditioner is the best for smoothing it down and has a great smell! Sorry I couldn't be more help on the biosilk but I would advise using Matrix Sleek. Look over Redken All Soft any day.

use olive oil. buy a bottle of olive oil pour about 1 or 1/2 cup warm it in the microwave. then apply it to hair from root to end best result apply more to the end. Use plastic wrap and wrap it around your head for about 15- 20 minutes then rinse. it will make your hair smooth and frizz free

and I always blow dry my hair NEVER straighten

2. I either use Suave Professionals Anti-Frizz cream (put it on when your hair is dry)

Use products that make your hair silky and soft. I like Porosity Control by Roux.

Next, detangle and let your hair get almost dry (you can put hair into a ponytail or two for this), but still has some dampness to it. Blowdry in sections. Spray in a few sprays of glosser (any reputable kind will do) about 10 inches from head and comb through to distribute well. This will preserve maximum shine and manageability. Then flat iron. This usually does the trick. A fresh trim helps the look too! Good luck!

Reply:I know what you mean, I have curly hair and occasionally straighten it. I dont buy into the product fads, though I do use a CHI straightener. Anyways heres my regimen that works for me!:

Shampoo with Baby shampoo [its MILD to the dry curls but removes build-up exceptionally well- plus it smells GREAT!]

Condition with Pantene. [pretty simply huh?]

Towel Dry and rub in dime sized amount of Smoothing Milk by Garnier. [works like a charm!]

Blow dry

LIGHTLY spray in SHINE! by VO5

Flat iron

And good to go! Hope that works for you =]
Reply:Well. Maybe you're not using the RIGHT salon products? Get something that you can use right before you straighten your to add shine along with your ceramic straightener.

Has anyone tried to new salon products - It's A Ten? Everyone at my salon is going crazy over it, but im skeptical! I use salon products, mostly biolage, biosilk, bed head, and chi. I cant seem to find out who makes the product, so im kind of scared to use it. I guess if they're selling it at salons, its a good product. I do deep treatments on my hair, so i like to use a good, well-known product when it comes to that. The treatments i use are packed with proteins and vitamins, and i cant get any info on the its a ten...like "ingredients". I dont want to buy it if its just a quick fix for frizzies or highlighted hair...i need something thats gonna be good for my hair in the long run! Thanks for any info!!!

I've been using it for a few weeks now and I really love it. I usually use products that I buy at my salon and my hair dresser recommended the It's A 10 because I tend to get frizzy hair because I blow dry my hair everyday and so far I don't have any complaints about the product. I have really light blonde hair and most products that reduce frizz and what not make my hair look really oily but this one doesn't at all. Even after i blow dry and style my hair with a curling iron my hair remains shiny and frizz free.

I'm going to grow my hair out, but I do not want to damage my hair....well at least not all the way because I know heat will always do damage. Therefore, I was wondering what you think is the best thermal protecting spray...or balm or anything before blow-drying? I'm going to be using the PHYTO line of stuff when my hair does get longer in order to keep moisture and I will also use BioSilk Therapy since it is heat activated. But I just needed to know what you guys use and how efficient it is. Thank you for taking the time to read and answer my question.

My hair (1 or 1.5 inches long), when slept on, is put down. After waking up and going to take a shower it grows poofy and straight up. I've heard about BioSilk Silk Therapy, does that help mend my hair down? If I grow my hair long will it go down? Or are there any methods to keep my hair down? (I don't feel like using gel/pomade because it gets ruined easy and not permanent for whole day)

hmm u can try mousse, its lighter and not as damaging to the hair especially if u get it alcohol free. u can also try hot oil treatments which u can get from any drug store to help with the dryness. and u can try hair serum if u dont want anything to harden it. u could also get a hair straighter and straighten it since it wont take very long because its short. and u can work straight hair girl! wear cute earring and make up to bring out ur eyes =)

Reply:I used to have the same problem. I grew my hair longer so that if it was really bad I can just pull it back. Otherwise I recommend VO5 Hair conditioning oil. It is usually in a tube and doesn't smell so wonderful but it works great! I am always trying new products anyway and I always come back to this. It is nice because it workds without heat. Just be carefull not to add to much because it can be greasy.

Reply:I'm a hairstylist so this is my educated answer. I've tested P.H. levels in most of the grocery store brands and Aussie tested to be the healthiest store brand. The worst were Pantene Pro V, Thermal Silk, and Herbal Essence. They may seem to make your hair soft and shiny but the coat the hair with a build up. As far as professional products go there all good for your hair. It's just your preference and how much you are willing to pay. My favorite is Redken Products, they have something for every type of hair. And there reasonably priced. Do avoid over clarifying your hair b/c it can become brittle.

Reply:what the dangerously straight shampoo does is to moisten your hair with oils to make it heavier (slightly). with more weight pulling your hair down, it will help your hair straighten out. on top of that using the deep conditioner (oil) and the therepy serum (more oil!!).. i'm pretty sure your hair will get kinda oily by the time you're out of the bath.

deep conditioners should only be used like once a week and not after every hair wash. you WILL get greasy hair.

i'd say alternate between the conditioner and the therapy serum. keep it simple. they work fine on their own!
Reply:I think it's pretty good, although you probably wouldn't want too many products on you hair, as it wears your hair down. The deep conditioner will make it smoother and silkier, but don't go too much on the serum. Adding a blowdrier in the mix will add to the shine, too.

i just went to the salon and i got my hair cut and straighten. the girl used the biosilk therapy before she flat ironed my hair and my hair looks amazing!!! but a lot of people said that it actually damages your hair. is that true? i'm planning to straightern my hair like everyday. if it damages you hair, what heat protectant should i use that i can buy at walmart or target and won't damage my hair.

honestly biosilk was the best thing for me, I used that to help strengthen my hair when it got fried from a perm last year. I have never heard that it can damage your hair. There is also infusium you can get that at cvs, walmart. That product comes with shampoo or even just a leave in very light conditioner that is like water and it is really good for your hair.

It looks like it's just your texture - you have coarse hair.

Awesome that you're using the Garnier Serum - that stuff is awesome.

I don't know if you've tried it yet, but Herbal Essences has redone their line, and the "None of your Frizzness" shampoo/conditioner is really awesome - I have super thick hair.

It might be because you're air drying your hair that you get the frizzies. Try blow drying it. If you use the "cool" setting, that helps smooth your hair. Or if you have a date - try using a straightner (it takes a lot of work, but might be worth it for a nice night out!).

Your hair really doesn't look that bad, aside from the serum, I wouldn't recommend any other products. If you forgo the serum, try a pomade - but that will make your hair more chunky.

I am half white half hispanic with naturally straight/ kinda wavy hair, but i'v done everything to it. I'v dyed it, bleached it, and permed it (big mistake) and u can just imagine how bad it is. Its dry, brittle, dull, it breaks off and won't grow much (its in the middle of my back). I'v heard about Carol's Daughter but i don't know if thats good for my type of hair, and i'v heard of beauty 4 ashes and its wayyyy to expensive! I'v tried all those salon shampoos (i.e Biosilk, Matrix, Bed Head - u kno all those that they "recommend") but nothing works! Can anyone tell me of any products out there that may help my damaged hair become healthy and grow again? I really dont want to cut it :(....PLEASE girls i need help!

Reply:I personally like Pantene ProV... but my stylist gave me a tip on treating my damaged hair. Put conditioner on your hair once a week and leave it in as long as you like. Overnight if possible. I'm currently using the Pantene Pro-V "deep fortifying treatment" and so far I like the results. Like I said, leave the conditioner on for a couple of hours, if not over night and keep doing that once a week. It helped me and it should help you as well. :)

Reply:I recommend a product by "Nexxus" called "Kerphix". Use about a tablespoon of the product and put a plastic bad on your head. Heat a dampened old towel and turban it around your head and let cool. Rinse with cool water. Repeat once a week. Until your hair starts to feel like hair again.

Do not condition your hair more than once a week if you do you run the risk of turning your hair to mush.

It will take some time to get your hair back in shape but it can be done. Have patience.

biosilk will make ur hair greasy and you will have to wash it more frequently which is bad for your hair.

Redken will leave deposits on your hair which can give you dandruff and make ur head itch

Nexus has a ph level of between 3 and 4 which is great it is also a cleansing shampoo which will leave your hair soft shiny and your scalp clean for upto 3 days depending on how oily your skin is. try to use a no wash shampoo inbetween if u have oily hair to preserve the natural oils you produce. This way you hair will be less frizzy and more FAB. Also wash ur hair in cool water this can help with frizz also.

Reply:I'm not sure, but the best should have the most B Vitamin in it, that helps with hair, I personally use Millers Creek but those might work too. It comes with a:

Step I ~ shampoo

Step II ~ conditioner

Step III ~ moisturizer (keeps it from getting dry)

Body Shop Define and No Friz or anything like that from another company will help keep your hair from frizzing out. And to prevent it from drying out in the sun you need grease or caster oil. You put ALOT in if its really dry.

Grease: leave in over night but make sure to use some kind head tie or wave cap to prevent your pillow from getting dirty. Then comb your hair and rinse, condition, rinse again and dry, with low heat.

Caster oil: part your hair, put small drops at the parts and do that until the entire head is wet and has had a bit of oil on it. Leave in for a few hours until you think its enough and then rinse, rinse, condition, rinse, rinse and dry with medium heat.

I've tried so hard to make my hair fine and soft but NOTHING seems to work for me. First I tried a hair mask, didn't moisturize it. Then I tried mayonnaise, my hair felt oily after I washed it out. Then I tried a shampoo made by biosilk. It didn't work so great, and now I'm only shampooing my hair every other day. I am going so crazy that I might just shave my head lol. help?

How to define hair?
I am assuming that you have really course hair...my daughter does. Be careful of moisuturizers! If you over do it with protein filled products, they can dry your hair out even worse. The best thing that you can do is wash your hair with a shampoo that says Hydrating not always moisturizing. Biolage makes a product called Hair Milk....its great!
Reply:How fine your hair is, is controlled by your genetic make-up. You might be able to affect its texture in the short term, but it would not last, as the new hair grown is protein, determined by the information in your chromosomes. Sorry to disappoint you!

I've used Biosilk, it works well and it smells great. Just put it in your hair when its wet, or you can even put it in when its dry.

I've also used Herbal Essence Leave-In Creme, it also smells good, it comes in an orange bottle, i think it works well, and you can use more of it than biosilk without making your hair feel greasy.

I my hair sometimes gets really dry. I use a cream rinse but that is not enough. If it gets too dry I will put some pink moisturizing lotion in my hair the night before I want to wash my hair. Then I will wrap my hair before I go to bed. Then next morning I will wash it all out. It really puts the moisture and shine back in my hair.

If you're straightening your hair, use BROCATO X-CURL, it's a thermal straightener you apply just out of the shower to damp hair, and it works GREAT for me.

Reply:John Frieda frizz-ease are the best products you can use they're cheap and actually work well with frizz. You can also try Sunsilk its not that expensive and leaves my hair really smooth and shiny. You might want to try to deep condition at least once a week becuase usually frizz is caused becuase of damage.

I have really fine hair but i have lots of it. Every time i straighten it the bottom layer is wavy again before I'm even done. I've tried herbal essence, garnier, john frieda, thermasilk, sunsilk, biosilk serum. Nothing works it either looks the same or my hair becomes really weighed down! Thanks

You should buy a Conair Pin Straight. It does wet 2 dry. It's only $30 at Target. I love mine! Try straightening right after you shower. There's a better chance that it will stay the way you want it. I hope this helped and good luck!

Reply:First, dry your hair in two large sections. While it's still wet, part your hair the way you normally wear it. Dry it from top to bottom, combing it down as you dry. In other words, hold the dryer above your head, and dry it at a downward angle. Do this on both sides until your hair is about 85% dry.

Second, apply a smoothing serum to your hair. I'd reccomend Garnier Nutrisse "Sleek and Shine Force Anti-Frizz." Put 1 to 3 drops in your hand, depending on the length of thickness of your hair and work it from root to tip. It will look somewhat oily, but don't worry, once you follow step three it will really work into your hair to create a nice smooth look.

Third, use a ceramic 1" flat-iron on 2" sections of your hair. Section the top of your hair off with a clip, and start with the bottom section first. After you've straightened the bottom, let the top down and straighten it. I'd reccomend the Revlon "High Heat Professional Tourmaline Straightener." It works every bit as good as a Chi, but will only run you about $38.

Reply:you need a flat iron with a thermostat on it, a dial that you can adjust the heat on it. I know how you feel and i had the same problem before you need to blow dry it first and use(my best friend) Paul Mitchell super skinny serum you only need like 2-4 pumps it's really concentrated so don't go over board with it. Reply:get a lightweight creme to protect your hair for when you blowdry it straight. believe me, blow drying is really important - i have the EXACT same hair as you lol. so after your hair is completely dry and straight, spritz it with a heat protective SPRAY and divide your hair into the top and bottom layers. straighten the bottom, then let the top loose and straighten that. when your done, apply some shine serum or anti-frizz serum. then, spray a touch of soft-hold hairspray into your hands, rub them together, and run them through your hair. this is what i do when i straighten and it comes out perfect!!

now, the products you use are also important. for sure, invest in some salon products. get some smoothing shampoo and conditioner, like matrix sleek.look. then get a very lightweight leave in conditioner that u put in soaking wet hair. my favorite is The Conditioner by Paul mitchell. (some ppl say it smells gross, but i dont think so, plus it works really well w/o weighing your hair down). after that, wait until your hair is just slightly damp before you put in to heat protective cream. my favorite is the straightening balm from sexy hair concepts - it comes in a little silver tube, for about 15$. blow dry, pointing the nozzle down to smooth the cuticle of the hair. then spray more heat protective product - i think the best is Heat Protexx by Nexxus - smells really good too! straighten hair in thin sections. after you are satisfied with the straightness, use some shine serum or anti-frizz stuff. the BEST shine serum is Shine Junkie by TIGI Bed Head - INCREDIBLE shine!!!! sleek.look's smoothing milk is also good for silkiness, but its not as shiney

I just got the CHI flat iron and I got the iron gaurd and for xmas I just got this biosilk set. It's the shampoo, conditioner, the silk see through stuff, and the silk gel. I just need help with the order in which to apply everything. Obviously, I put the shampoo and conditioner on in the shower. Should I aplpy the iron gaurd with my hair wet or dry cuz I know my hair has to be dry to straighten it with the iron. Someone please help me clarify this! Thanks

I'm not real sure with the Gel but I imagine that you would apply the gel to damp hair, blow dry and then straighten your hair in layers until the whole head is straightened. I don't apply gel to mine, but mine too has to be dry to straighten I because it's Thick and Naturally Culy which equals.. Frizzzzz. If you have the problem where your hair get real fluffy after you've been in the heat I suggest Aussie Humidity defense spray.. it's the best I have found ;)

Reply:You definitely want to get a LEAVE ON conditioner. I don't know if that is what iron guard is but it is important to your hair's health that, in addition to wash away conditioner, that you get a leave on.

1. Wash your hair with shampoo. Rinse.

2. Apply conditioner, work it in mostly towards the middle to tip of your hair. (Your hair should have plenty of oils towards the roots. Applying conditioner there might result in an excessively 'oily' look) Rinse.

3. Brush out your hair and apply leave on conditioner.

4. Using a hair dryer set on medium heat, blow out your hair using your fingers as a comb until your hair is 80% dry.

5. Then use a round brush to straighten your hair with the hair dryer.

6. Then, split your hair in sections. Once in the middle vertically, then in the middle horizontally.

7. Depending on comfortability, split those sections when necessary only putting a small amount of hair through the straightening iron at a time. DO NOT leave hair in their long or else it will burn!

8. Do this process and go over any piece you feel you want straighter and smoother.

The straightening iron is NOT the only tool you need to straighten your hair and should never be used on wet hair. It should also never be used without some sort of conditioner or guard when your hair is dry.

DON'T EVER use the hair straightening as your only tool. It can cause extensive damage to your hair.

Reply:Wash and condition your hair. Towel dry. Apply the silk gel and dry hair with a blow dryer. While you're blow drying your hair turn the flat iron on to warm up. After your hair is dry take small sections and apply the flat iron to them. Start at the root and go straight down. Do NOT let that flat iron sit on your hair too long. And don't apply the flat iron everyday. You will damage your hair. You have a really good iron. Have fun!

I have naturally curly hair. I tried everything from vegestable oil, Theramisk, Biosilk, Herbal essence, baby oil, vazoom, and now i am using Panthene Pro-V. After i get out of the shower i don't dry my hair i put moose in it. I let my hair dry naturally but it get curly on the middle part of my hair. How can my roots gets curly too. How can i stop to get frissy and and it also dry. Help

*Try clipping the roots of your hair with claw or butterlfy clips as such after you have put gel in your hair and scrunched.

*Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now well defined and healthy. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life! But if this is completely uninteresting to you, disregard.

*To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel, a leave in, and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blow dryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a micro fiber hair turban/old t-shirts (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

*The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygienic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sulfates). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.

*Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (avoid these- ingredients will end in -xane, -conol, or -cone). Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.

*Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it will disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part preferably to one side). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Make sure gel is evenly distributed everywhere in your hair. If you use too much you can always scrunch out the crunchy texture later.

*Use paper towels or an old t-shirt to gently scrunch some of the water out (generic towels can make hair frizz). You can either let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Dry until your hair is almost dry, and then air-dry the last bit. Do not touch the hair while it is air-drying or it will frizz!

*Use a cheap, silicone free conditioner to scrub your scalp such as Suave Naturals or Vo5. Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner (salon) or Nature's Gate\Desert Essences conditioners (health food stores) for your hair. I recommend using a gel (LA Looks, Herbal Essences, La Bella) over a leave in (L’Oreal Out of Bed Instant Texturizer). Experiment with whatever products you wish, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.

*You may be able to get away with some silicones (such as amodimethicone) if you clarify with a sulfate free shampoo. Try Devacurl no-poo (salon) or Cream of Nature (drug store). Feel free to find your own but always check the ingredients for sodium/ammonium lauryl/laureth sulfate.

*Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. Before you decide to quit shampoo, do a final cleanse with shampoo and stop the use of any products with silicones in them. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! I hope you consider this- email me if you have any questions!

The absolute best product I've found so far is Potion 9 by Sebastian. It's not cheap, but a little goes a long way. and it's actually a conditioner - so it's good for your hair. Apply it to damp hair and evenly distribute. Twirl your hair in a corkscrew shape in 1 inch sections. Air-dry, or use a dryer with diffuser on low heat. when hair is totally dry separate any curls you think look too big.

also -- curly hair is usually dry hair, so try not to shampoo your hair every day. I try to wash mine only every 3 days, it makes a big difference. My stylist (my best friend) says that Pantene actually dries out the hair more. It feels great while your using it, but once you stop it gets all dry.

**Hi again, I just read that your hair is down to your waist -- that may be too long/too heavy for it to curl at the roots. try cutting a couple inches off... but make sure your stylist knows about curly hair... I've had a few nightmare haircuts by people who underestimated the bounce-factor!!

Okay, so I have had dry hair ever since 8th grade, and now I am a Jr. in College. My dry hair is due to heat damange, dye jobs, and hair relaxers(i think this is what it was) over the period of my life. Is it too late to get my hair to be normal again? I do not know what to do because since my hair is so dry, it is very wavy and not straight, and i have to use a straightening iron every day which only adds on to the dryness. It is a repeated cycle of damage hair for me. Does anyone have any tips on how to get my hair shiney and not as dry? I use Biosilk and use a heat resistant spray thing for my hair after i get out of the shower. But my hair is still dry as ever. My hair texture somewhat resembles the end of a broom stick (okay maybe i am over exaggerating, but it hurts when i poke the tip of my hair to my face.) HELP ME! =(

It works VERY well, and is pretty cheap if you find it on sale. the have a de-friz leave in conditioner. just go to your local beauty store. Hope i helped.

I am trying to find a good product to put on my curly hair to cut down on the frizz after it dries. I have tried Biosilk, too much alcohol; I've used mousse in the past, too hard %26amp; crispy; Many products to choose from, but I'd like one that will keep down the frizz but keep a natural-look and feel without drying my hair worse for using it.

Try blue magic hair grease or bed head de frizzer for curly hair. Both work very well although I prefer the hair grease.

I would use just a drop of nail polish remover on a Q tip.

I used it to get permanent marker off of my leather sofa.
Reply:I know it sound's crazy but try the Mr. Clean Magic eraser...I had the same thing happen to a pink leather purse of mind. But be cautious, my leather purse had a protective coating.

So what is going on with all these salon products being sold at drugstores??? For example.... Paul Mithchell shampoo and conditioners, Biosilk Hair Therapy, Abba , Pureology, Nexxus??? I thought on the back of those bottles it always said, "sold only in fine salons" or "guaranteed only from fine salons" ??? So my question is , are these products that are being sold in target, walmart, etc. generic or old or something????? Does anyone know?

I was just at a hair show in march and we talked about this! Its fake its not the real product if you go to walmart and buy one of these products and go to the salon to buy one and compare the two you will notice a difference! So i suggest that you call the number on the back of the bottle and you might be able to have them clarify this for you!
Reply:I saw these products at a wal-mart the other day but they were in the salon that is at the front of the store.
Reply:It used to be that a store had to have a cosmetology license in order to be able to buy those products for re-sale in the first place. Which is why the shampoo people put that wording on the bottles - to prevent unlicensed stores from re-selling them.

Then WalMart became soo big in the 90's and the shampoo companies realized that WalMart can buy and sell a million bottles in a 3 month span, versus how much the real salons were selling.

I think they left the wording on the bottles so as not to 'offend' the purchasers who do buy from salons and not stores like Walmart and Kmart. The products are exactly the same... the only benefit from buying from a salon is that the stylist will assist you, you can 'try on' the shampoo before you buy it, and you can return/exchange it and get advice - where at Walmart, you will have a hard time with any of that.

Yes, I agree with that woman, you should get some vitamins. If you want your hair to be healthy and grow faster, you should get zinc, silicon (silicium) and brewer’s yeast. Those will help you to improve your hair condition...

AND you must use shampoo and balsam for damaged hair (even if your hair isn't damaged; believe me - it helps!), it's very good that you use oil (use it once a week). Then you should wear your hair into a ponytail or a bun (then your hair won't touch your clothes and won't get damaged).

Don't drink too much alcohol, don't smoke.

Try not to get stressed too much, because it won't help you...

Reply:Try taking vitamins. I know it sounds crazy, but look for pre-natal vitamins. When I was pregnant, and took these, my hair literally grew 12 inches longer in 9 months.

Reply:Use heat protectant before you straighten. Also, get a very good straightener. Usually the fault that people make is that they use a bad straightenr. Mine only cost $20 so I'm throwing out. I have conair and it sucks. Especially for you hair, get a better straightener. The chi isnt always the best. It might not work on your hair but it owkrs on others. Theres a cheap one called remington wet2straight. My friend has it and it works pretty good. Also, use the herbal essneces dangerously straight hairspray. It does work, but only with a flat iron. Try a heat protectant or straightening serum before you straighten.

I have the same kind of hair, U used to keep it up in pony tails everyday. now I went to a store and bought a gold-plated steam straightener. and bought anti-frizz spray to keep the split ends down. just try that. or you can get it straighten professionally.

Reply:The first thing you need to do is use a smoothing shampoo and conditioner. Then use a smoothing product gel or liquid. Dry your hair using a large paddle brush (the wide flat ones). Next step- straightening iron. Get one with ceramic plates as they get the hottest but are also the safest for your hair. Another trick, use about 1 inch sections of hair and when you have the hair straight use the COOL setting on your hair dryer to close the hair cuticle. This will kind of glue in the straight!!! Reply:I used to have very untamed hair. Its thick, and wavy never a great combo!! To start with i now use an anti frizz shampoo and conditioner, or even an always straight shampoo/conditioner. Then get a quality, going for cheap versions doesnt always work, ceramic tonged hair straightner. And aswell as that i use an anti frizz serum after i straighten it to put some moisture back in it that the straightner takes out of it. :) I can now even blow dry my hair which is something i could never even dream of doing!! Reply:I love when my hair is straightened, and how I do it is buy a straightening iron. Then brush your hair and put in hairspray and you can put in hair softening cream I like john frieda and frizz ease serum. You can get all these at kmart, walmart, basically in the hair isle of any store.
Reply:I myself do not have a chi and I do not know whether or not it has settings, but if it does, you should put it on a low or medium setting and go over and over your pieces of hair instead of blasting the heat on your poor lovely locks. Try using a heat protection spray before and after you flat iron your hair. To get your hair nice and straight spray heat protection spray all over your hair but not on the roots (it will make your scalp look greasy) just spray it on your ends. The take a piece of your hair and on a low setting, go over it a few times, and the smaller the strand that you are attempting to flatten, the staighter that it will get. Whatever you do , if you want straght hair, take your time. To get really nice flat hair take your time. You should take about 15 to 20 minutes depending on how thick your hair is.

I live in San Diego and I am having a hard time with frizz. I have long, curly, wavy hair. I sometimes straighten. I am currently using BioSilk frizz serum on my hair. Lately it seems like it just makes it look greasy. In this current weather, it has been damp outside and this is making it worse. I also sometimes use that Hemp Frizz/Humidity control product.

- Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!

- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent. They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof. O:(

- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair. Then let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer with a diffuser.

- I really like the garnier fructis sleek and shine leave in cream and Tressemme clean hold gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites. Frizz-ease hair serum is pretty good for fighting frizz.

- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working.This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!
Reply:Try using Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle on your hair. I have wavy, frizzy hair that I sometimes straighten as well. The 3 Minute Miracle is good for making your hair shiny and soft and repairs damage. It helps with frizz as well. I know that I can tell a difference in frizz when I style my hair after using this product. If you can, find the "deeeep" kind. It's usually in a smaller bottle than the regular and works wonderfully after being left on for the recommended 1 -3 minutes. If you get the regular kind, try leaving it on for 4 -5 minutes. I find that works just as well as the "deeeep" kind if left on for a longer time.

I just bought a new cashmere tunic from Griffen brand cashmere. The label says 100% cashmere... but it feels like wool. I was really disappointed when I bought it, but I'd like to keep it since I love the tuinc style, which is sort of hard-to-find in 100% cashmere.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to soften it? I've already tried hand washing it with shampoo and conditioner (didn't work). I'm t the point now where I'm going to try using hair softening product such as Biosilk Silk Therapy which I use to make my own hair softer.

Softening Cashmere? Just bought new and it's scratchy!?
Some grades of cashmere are finer than others. I own a half dozen cashmere sweaters, and I've noticed the difference in the grade of fiber. At the coarse end, it shades into something only slightly softer than lamb's wool.

Any cashmere can be improved with some very careful hand washing. You do use detergent, but if you use shampoo it should not contain conditioner. Just the 'poo, nothing else. I use yellow Joy mild dishwashing detergent.

Fill a bucket with warm water. Squirt in a teaspoon of detergent. Swish around with hand. Put sweater in water. Press air bubbles out of sweater. Walk away for six hours, or overnight.

Next day, fill another bucket with clean warm water. Also clean the bathroom sink well. Very carefully, then, put hand under the sweater in the sudsy bucket and lift out the whole sweater in a ball, letting nothing hang out. Transfer wet sweater to sink and press, press, press the water out... but don't twist or pull. You should never twist or pull wet wool, including cashmere, because it won't got back into the right shape if you do.

Again form the sweater into a ball and put into the clean water to rinse. Press sweater to mix out any remaining detergent. Carefully lift sweater out of the water as before and press the water out in the sink again. You might want to rinse a second time from the faucet, and press yet again.

Remove the damp sweater from the sink, still in a ball, and unroll it on top of a clean, dry towel. Roll the sweater up inside the towel, like a croissant, and then sit on it to make the water left in the sweater go into the towel. Then unroll the towel, roll up the sweater by itself, and transfer the sweater to a clean, dry spot. Let air-dry for 24 hours.

The sweater will be softer as well as cleaner when the drying is finished.

Reply:Wear a silk camisole underneath, it'll help. Be careful not to use hot water! Liquid downy fabric softener may help. Lay flat to dry.

I have very L-O-N-G blonde hair and I REALLY need help. I take a shower every day and never can keep my hair tangle free. I keep my hair up in a braid all day and I can't ever have it down without it getting all messy, freaky, and knotty. Even when it is in a pony tail, it is a disaster. I use a product called "Biosilk", and it helps when I brush my hair but it can't prevent future knotts. I also use coconut oil in my hair to keep it straight when I have no time to brush it all the way through. My hair is getting thicker as we speak, so i really need help fast. The longer your hair is the worst the knots will be. Have you thought about long layers.

Another thing is stop using hot water to wash and rinse your hair. Hot water will dry it out and make it tangle. Use cool water. It will close the cuticle and help it stay moist, and shinny. Use a leave in,detangle conditioner w. your biosilk. I live by biosilk it is the bomb.

Reply:I would go to your local salon and pick up some Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Shampoo and Super Skinny Conditioner and Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. The Super Skinny line helps to smooth out your cuticle making it easier to wash and brush. Never brush your hair when its wet. It will make your hair break. If you get a Super Skinny Shampoo and Conditoner in the largest size it will cost about $25 dollars about 20 euros. It will work wonders with your hair. I use it and love it. When you use the shampoo put a small dollop on your palm and rub between hands then rub onto hair in a circular motion to get really sudsy. Reply:Nexxus has a product called Y Serum that helps make the hair less frizzy. It's for older hair (according to the advertising), but works on younger hair, too. Rusk Str8 is good, but I find I still need to use a little John Frieda's Frizz Ease with it to tame the mane.

Henna can also help. It's a pain to apply, but lasts for weeks. It comes in neutral, so you can use it without changing your hair colour.

I straighten my hair with the Chi iron, but my hair is really dry from the ends even though I just got them cut. I have seen some people who straighten their hair with the same iron and their hair looks nice and shiny. I used Biosilk before but I dont really like it. Can someone tell me what kind of stuff I can use when I am flat ironing my hair to make my hair look even straighter and shinier?? Thanks!!

i hate Biosilk too, it makes my hair greasy.

Anyway, first, blow your hair dry using a round brush and a striaghtening cream, like Rusk Str8. That works the best! Then when you're about to flat iron, get a heat protectant spray and spray it on in sections as you iron. Big Sexy Hair has a product called Shine and Seal that works really well for this. Also, CHI makes a flat iron spray that makes the hair glossy and silky.

Also, you might try a deep conditioner once or twice a week if you don't already. Pureology makes the best one.

It is very thick and I normally use Head and Shoulders and have tried alot of different things in it. Lately I have tried using Biosilk and I use Pantene Pro-V for hairspray. But by midmorning my hair is frizzy and looks horrible.

Is there anything else you can do besides getting it thinned and cut shorter? Any special products that are better than others? Or is the best decision to get it thinned and shortened. Any advice would be appreciated!

I have the same problem! The only thing that has ever worked for me is a good haircut. I tend to go to Aveda salons, and have never been disappointed. You don't have to get it cut shorter, and you don't have to have them use thinning shears (I've had that done, it looks weird). It's all in HOW they cut it. If you explain your problem, they can cut it in a way that will make it lay nicely. After you get it cut, put a little product in your hair (anti-frizz serum) and then flat iron it, that will help keep friz down.

Reply:I'm yet another person with thick hair and what I do for shampoos and conditioners is just change them around a lot but for styling I just spray in some Pantene Pro-V Light Spray Conditioner and then flip my head upside down and scrunch in some Suave volumizing Mousse Max Hold 8. ok, im going to use dangerously straight shampoo, and im going ot use the feria deep conditioner for black hair, and after i get out of the shower im going to use a biosilk silk therapy serum. Will that make my hair soft? Is it a good Combo?

I think it's pretty good, although you probably wouldn't want too many products on you hair, as it wears your hair down. The deep conditioner will make it smoother and silkier, but don't go too much on the serum. Adding a blowdrier in the mix will add to the shine, too.

Reply:what the dangerously straight shampoo does is to moisten your hair with oils to make it heavier (slightly). with more weight pulling your hair down, it will help your hair straighten out. on top of that using the deep conditioner (oil) and the therepy serum (more oil!!).. i'm pretty sure your hair will get kinda oily by the time you're out of the bath.

deep conditioners should only be used like once a week and not after every hair wash. you WILL get greasy hair.

i'd say alternate between the conditioner and the therapy serum. keep it simple. they work fine on their own!

The Keracare line is pretty good. Gets plenty of rave at http://forum.blackhairmedia.com. Biosilk serum is good but contains a lot of alcohol so very drying. CHI irons are okay but make sure it has multi-level settings for the heat.

Believe it or not... curl cream works really well for frizz. That is if you have a good straightener. What I do is I put a curl cream on my hair when it's wet, I usually use the Sunsilk or whatever that is. I let it air cry, because if you blowdry it and then straighten it, think about all that heat your putting on your hair, it gets damaged really quickly. Then, when it's dry, straighten your hair. i find doing it in layers is best, I have alot of semi-curly hair, so I do mine in 3 layers, but whatever works best for you is good.

I really like my Ceramic straightener, if your looking for a new one.

Reply:That's just static. Believe it or not there is a shampoo from Sunsilk that actually for that very problem. It's called sunsilk therma shina turn up the heat. It's made from silk proteins which reacts to heat in a possitive way. It's a great shampoo and conditioner that comes in a purple bottle with an exclamation point on the front. My hair is wavy and is very frizzy if I don't use hair products on it. First I shampoo with a good shampoo (I use Aveda Pure Shampoo) . I don't use conditioner in the shower because it tends to flatten my hair. I then towel dry my hair and comb. Next I put Aveda conditioning serum on, rub it in. Then I add Chi serum or, as someone else suggested, sometimes I used Frizz Ease if I'm out of Chi. I comb through and let my hair air dry. If I blow dry my hair it just frizzes more. If you have to blow dry your hair make sure you get a diffuser attachment. I've used biosilk before, but like the other products I've mentioned more than biosilk.

well after me and my husband got married i moved into his house and well he is in the military and overseas now but i live with his parents and twins sisters and niece...well his niece is 7 yrs old and sometimes goes into my room. she messes with my things but they tell me she just wants attention and well one time she had the nerve to put nail polish remover inside my biosilk (for the hair) i was so mad but how do i tell my mother in law that i want to put a lock on my door...i am also missing some of my jewerly....i dont want to make it seem that i dont trust them....help...

Reply:When it comes to Grandma you can't say anything because you are wrong and it will start ww111. Instead of a lock on your door go out and buy some kind of trunk that locks and keep all of you valuable stuff in there, I know it will be a pain but it might keep the peace. The child sounds like her mother needs to set soe boundries but becaquse there is none your mil is right she is trying to get attention and negative attention works for her the same as good. Try spending some time with the child doing things, invite her into your room while you are there and show her what nail polish is used for and see if maybe giving her a little extra attention works and if it doesn't pray for a speedy return of your hubby. I have frizzy/wavy hair therefore I straighten mine all the time. I find if I put a product in my hair before I straighten it, it just doesn't feel good. If you want your hair to shine the straightener will definately work without products. Then you use a good defrizz product afterwords. Paul mitchell has awesome products. Im sure you will have nice straight hair. That is the best brand to use.

Reply:I LOVE Biolage smoothing shampoo/conditioner! They are not too heavy as to make your hair have that greasy appearance some straightening products tend to give but keep my hair smooth all day long. The smoothing serum in their smoothing line is horrible though, don't waste your money.

Kiwi: Blow Silk is an awesome product if you use heat while styling. It makes you hair feel super silky, keeps the frizz away and smell awesome. Everytime I use this products I get compliments on how shiny and healthy my hair looks. Don't be fooled by the small bottle, it only takes a small amount so it lasts for a looong time. I've never liked any of the other products in this line, but this one rocks.

Also, Smooth and Seal aerated anti-frizz spray by straightsexyhair is great product and is really good for touch ups throughout the day if you experience frizz due to humidity.

And, I can't leave Artec Tex Smooth Drops! This stuff is like gold. I can't find it around here though which is why I list it last.

I haven't used the biosilk you have in the product but I used to always use their smoothing shampoo and cond. and it was great so if you don't find anything you like through people's answers I would say give it a try. If you get it from somewhere like Trade Secret they have a thirty day money back thing if you don't like it so you have nothing to lose!
Reply:I love paul mitchell super skinny too, sometimes I use Matrix serum, you get more and it's cheaper but just as effective.

However you should really be using a product that protects your hair from the intense heat of the iron. You can try Straight 8 or Matrix flat iron spray, it smells awesome too. Did you know the heat in those irons can reach temperatures of 450 degrees? That's hot enough to cool a turkey! Protect you precious locks before you wind up with a flat iron haircut, that's what happens if you don't , suddenly the hair will break off at the top where you start to iron, check for damage now!!!!

I use Biosilk shampoo and biolage conditioner, redkin antisnap leave in treatment, but still my hair is having a tough time reducing the breakage. I'm wanting to reduce this as well as get these stray hair to stop fraying all over the place. What do I do?

How do you recover from hair breakage?
Heat styling and blow drying can make hair more dry. Use a super absorbent hair towel (ex. Aquis or The Body Shop) to minimize time needed to blow dry.

Use a deep conditioner as needed. Joico K-Pak conditioner is excellent. You can use it every day or as a hair mask. Joico also makes K-Pak shampoo which is good for dry, fragile hair.

Use a wide toothed comb after shampooing to remove tangles and start from the bottom working your way up gently. Dry hair can be brittle so treat it gently and do not brush it while it is wet.

Avoid styling products with a high alcohol content (ex. hair spray) and use a heat protection product before blow drying or styling.

Kiehl's Silk Groom or jojoba oil are good. They will help smooth down your hair while conditioning it.
Reply:I use to have the same problem, It could be from dying, lack of moisture, or split ends that keep creeping to your crown. The fly aways I use Pal Mitchell Express Hold me tight. It is a finishing spray, This holds down the fly aways. This product does not feel and look like a hair spry in your hair. Also your the Paul Michell Moisture shampoo and Conditioner. If you are see breakage look at your hair and see if you have split ends. Which look at the tip of our ends and you will see this little white dot and to test this just pull bellow and if it breaks in the spot were you saw this, It is a split end. You must get your hair trimmed because these split ends will just keep creeping up to your crown (I had this experience). Also do a home remody use olive oil once a month put this treatment in your hair lather it, and wash it out a couple times wit out shampoo, when the oil is gone then shampoo and conditioner. (The salon I use to work at charges $200.00 for this) Good luck. It will take some time getting your hair back to normal, Plus try not using a blow dryer and a hair flattener.

well when ur younger ur hair grows nice n faster b/c of the exercise n deit u've grown up with...i had the same problem u have i use to have long hair down where my bra strap is and i choped it to ear length and it took awhile to grow back...but now its past my clavical...took 2yrs to find the best way to grow it back...what i do is i use oil base condionter n shampoo and precondition my hair b4 i wash it like hot oil treatments or put cond. on the ends of my hair then i wash it and i leave a lil put of cond. on the ends to keep it perfect from the heat n also from brushin it like crazy..i also take prenatal vitamins which help b/c of the folic aicd and vitamin b...also just trim the ends where u see a split end not to much just enough so it won't go ne higher...if u try this method it should help the hair to come back nice b/c i told my friend the same thing n she can't stop tellin me thank u
Reply:Trim off all of your split-ends, then use restoring shampoo and conditioner (pantene restoratives), and use hair protection when applying heat to your hair because heat causes a lot of hair damage. =)

So. I'm in love with this answer thing. This is going to be my new internet addiction...

I have this problem with flyaways.

And I can't find anything to deal with it.

Straitening my hair helps but it doesn't get rid of the problem entirely.

I just had my hair trimmed. That helped a bit.

I can't do the only wash every other day thing because my hair will get really nasty and greasy. Rinsing doesn't help.

I've tried Frizz-Ease (or however it's spelled), but I can't get any results unless I put so much on that it makes my hair look oily.

My mom's friend's daughter, who does hair and stuff, just recently gave me a bottle of Biosilk, and it's working rather well with straitening, but I stillllll have flyaways.

How do I deal with flyaways?
I use tony and guy hair serum on mine when i've finished straightening it,just a little blob,then spray some natural hold hairspray on the stubborn bits...seems to do the trick!

Do not use the highest heat setting on your straigtner - use medium if it'll do the trick.

I am half Puerto Rican and half Black. I would say that the texture of my hair is long and soft like a Spanish person's but dry and brittle and frizzy like a black person's hair. My roots are pretty straight just a little frizzy but the middle of my hair has loose waves and the bottom of my hair curls a little bit. When I wash my hair I get nice tight waves but when it dries my hair it gets really poofy and less wavy.

I usually straighten my hair with a Maxius hair glider straightener and some hair grease and baby oil gel as i haven't found a good product that will keep my hair wavy and not poofy. But I am starting to exercise now and I sweat out my straight style. So I want to wear it wavy.

I was looking into the Mixed chicks product line but I'm not convinced it'll work for me as I used Biosilk and was not impressed. Usually I use either Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine or Pantene Pro v Relaxed and natural pro v relaxed and natural line. Is there a better line out there for me?

What products to use in my Mixed hair?

My hair is super curly. After I blow dry my hair, I iron it and then it comes out all fluffed out and big. I've tried many products such as CHI, biosilk, Pantene pro-v, and some other expensive brands and overall they have done the same thing. I've tried those sprays that you put on your hair so it won't damage your hair while ironing it , but it fluffs my hair . By the way I have a ceramic iron. Does anyone know of any good products out there that really work?? Or of any good strategies for my hairdo. I've been wanting to try biolage but I am afraid that it won't work and I will lose my money worths.

My hair is curly too and i live in south Louisiana where it is very humid most of the time, even today! I dont straighten my hair often because its pretty long and its time consuming, but i recently bought a staightener that can be used on wet or dry hair. I dont relly know how good this is for my hair, but its nice because I refuse to blow dry my hair. It taks too long, poofs my hair to much, and hurts my arm! I usually wash my hair he night before, put a straightening gel in it and the heat porotector, and put it in a pony tail bun thing that kind of keeps my hair straight. In the morning I use the sraightner starting with small sections in the back and work my way to the front. I like the pantene oil stuff... smooth and sleek i think its called, to put on the hair when its straight to keep the poof down and add a little shine. Good luck with it, but remember curls are beautiful!!! Dont straighen them all the time!!!

Reply:You use all the good things that I use for everyone's hair that I do. Are you using very small strands of hair at a time with the CHI flat iron? If you're grabbing chunky sections of hair to flat iron, that can contribute to the result being fluffy. Also, for the spray protector, spray very LIGHTLY. If you spray too much, it makes your hair more damp and your hair won't come out as straight. If you spray too much, stop what you are doing and get that blow dryer and blowdry that section of hair back dry. Good luck!
Reply:Use these and you will never need to deal with frizz or fluffy effects. Garnier has a shampoo and condition, which is called Sleek and Shine. Use these and then when your hair is wet, apply 2 drops of Kerastase Oleo-Relax serum to your hair. This is a very expensive product, but it is a life savor. Then blow dry your hair completely til it is 90 percent dry. Then use your iron. Your hair will be straight and look gorgeous.
Reply:I have difficult hair also. I stopped using any Pantene product and what a difference that made. I blow dry in small sections, never just do the whole head at once. I also use oil, that is the thing that works the best because dry, curly, frizzy hair will be puffy and terrible. The oil I use is, Bane d' Terre it really tames the frizz. I also use a flat iron but use it for very small sections of hair after its been dried. Using a flat iron on wet hair seems to make it worse. Bane d' Terre All Day Straight is good to use before the oil and also Bane d' Terre shampoo for frizzy hair is great.

What is best to use?
Use a mild shampoo or a clarifying shampoo that doesn't contain conditioners, they will leave the least amount of residue on your hair. Use a light conditioner or cream rinse on just the ends only.

ok, im going to use dangerously straight shampoo, and im going ot use the feria deep conditioner for black hair, and after i get out of the shower im going to use a biosilk silk therapy serum. Will that make my hair soft? Is it a good Combo?

I think it's pretty good, although you probably wouldn't want too many products on you hair, as it wears your hair down. The deep conditioner will make it smoother and silkier, but don't go too much on the serum. Adding a blowdrier in the mix will add to the shine, too.

Reply:what the dangerously straight shampoo does is to moisten your hair with oils to make it heavier (slightly). with more weight pulling your hair down, it will help your hair straighten out. on top of that using the deep conditioner (oil) and the therepy serum (more oil!!).. i'm pretty sure your hair will get kinda oily by the time you're out of the bath.

deep conditioners should only be used like once a week and not after every hair wash. you WILL get greasy hair.

i'd say alternate between the conditioner and the therapy serum. keep it simple. they work fine on their own!

Reply:I love tresseme heat defence spray it also seem to help it staighten but is very light you can't feel it in your hair afterwards. it protects up to 200 degrees C which alot don't, make sure you check how hot your straightner gets and upto what heat the product you get protects otherwise its usless!

Reply:First of all, tell your mother to step away from the color. No matter how much conditioner you slap up in her hair, it will not cancel out the constant chemical damage. Next, make this recipe and slather it on her hair:

1 avocado, mashed up

1/4 cup of honey, just regular honey

1/2 cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, from a grocery store

1/2 cup of some conditioner...

Mix this all up and put it on her hair, put a shower cap on and let her sit under a hooded dryer for about 20 minutes.If you don't have a dryer, just let it sit for about 45 minutes. Wash that out with cool water, and style as usual. You will have to baby her hair back to health; and those dried up, damaged ends? They have to come off, not all at once, but eventually, they will all have to be chopped off. But there is hope. Moisturize daily and lay off the chemicals.

Yeah, so my hair used to dry wavy and frizzy but now dries much, much straighter! I don't know why, and I don't think that your hair can just "change" its hair type.

I have done a few different things, though. I used "garnier fructise sleek and shine" shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and a bit of the anti frizz stuff.

then i used some biosilk.

and I also use one of those round brush thingies with the insanely hard and hurtful bristles, lol.

but HOW can products change your hair type?? :/

Actually you are right, your hair type changes as you get older. Whether you are Indian, Black, or whatever genetics and what you put in your hair over a period of time can change the texture. I noticed my hair do the same thing, and my old stylist confirmed it.

If you like what's happening to it, continue what you are doing.

Okay my hair was fine, I usually use 3 hair care products "Sunsilk Frizz creme, Biosilk Silk Therapy, Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum" and I flat iron my hair every other 2-3 days. I woke up one day and my hair was still fine, as soon as I took a shower, my hair became so poofy and dry! it still is, how does that happen over night? I can't stop thinkin about how bad my hair looks, I'm probably gonna head over to my hairstylist but I just don't get it, I have a chi flat iron and use it only 2 - 3 times a week... it's all frizzy and dry compared to what it was, my friends said it looked fine but I know my hair and it's WAY dryer than it was the night before....

How does your hair become dryed out over night?
Cut down on the products.

Also, go out to a hair supply store and get a deep conditioner.

One that says "Cholesterol" on it.

They're amazing for giving soft hair back. :)

Also, keep that straightener on a low setting!!!
Reply:is your diet balanced? Eat tuna for hair moisture, also other fish, almonds, nuts, make sure you get lots of vitamin D.

My recipe for nice hair is: leave it alone as much as possible.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, wash it more than twice per week!!! That dries it out horribly. The more you poke at it (with iron, products, washing....) the worse it will eventually get and more split ends will appear.
Reply:hun relax it is okay.. u could be dont a couple of things wrong

1. dont put any serum in ur hair until after u are done straighting it

2. u cannot use all 3 products at once.

3. Biosilk is great but it dries ur hair

4. when u wash ur hair always use deep conditioner. My fav. is Pantain "Intensive treatment" If you are using straighting iron or blow drier, even gel, it is very important to do treatments. You use the treatment after u shampoo and condition ur hair.

Trust me ur hair will look like the girls in the commercials... I really hope I helped cuz i do know what it feels like when ur hair is a mess
Reply:um I know cotton dries your hair out, so I use either silk, or satin pillow cases or a silk satin scarf to cover my hair.

Other than that IDK what went wrong. I know sometimes your hair gets used to products and they stop working as effectively.

Reply:If you live in California it could be the Santa Ana high pressure. This causes the humidity to be very low, causes an increase in static electricity - maybe that's why your hair is frizzy - good news......it's only temporary.

i have very curly hair that takes me about an hour and a half to straighten using an old wet to straight by conair (black). so i want to know if any one knew of any really good straighteners that would cut the time it takes me and that wont cause lots of damage to my hair. and also if any one knows of any good products to use to straighten hair. i have been using got to be products and frizzes hair surm. i also use biosilk conditioner which helps moisturize my hair.

Reply:depends on what cheep means to you...i have a chi and they work AWSOME!!! but its $100.00 so it depends on how much money you want to spend...i have slightly wavy hair and mine comes out perfectly straight but my bestfriend has EXTREMELY curly hair and her's comes out just as straight...and they have a one year warenty...and they are deffinetly worth the money and i have had mine for 2 years and its still working like new...

Reply:If you want something that is cheap, go with Conair professionals--they are usually around $30 and take a minute to heat up. They might cut down the time you take to straighten your hair by a little (maybe you will then need 45-60 min)

If you really want to cut the time it takes to straighten your hair, buy a CHI. They are pricey but totally worth it, they cut the straightening time to half of Conair's. Your hair won't get any straighter than it would with Conair's (don't believe the bs people say like "oh, my hair is so much smoother and silkier"), but it will take way less time to get the job done.

There's no such thing as a straightener that won't damage your hair. All you can do is use products in your hair before straightening (I recommend hair serum) and make sure your hair is COMPLETELY dry.
Reply:My hair is also very curly...you can find $100-200+ retail ceramic flat irons on EBAY...i won mine for about $32 brand new and my hair is the straightest and shiniest it has ever been. My flat iron is Pro-Chloche but there are many other to choose from. As far as product, the matrix smooth line (orange bottles) and straight serum are the best i've used...hope this helps!
