I need help with steps to straightening my hair?

I just got the CHI flat iron and I got the iron gaurd and for xmas I just got this biosilk set. It's the shampoo, conditioner, the silk see through stuff, and the silk gel. I just need help with the order in which to apply everything. Obviously, I put the shampoo and conditioner on in the shower. Should I aplpy the iron gaurd with my hair wet or dry cuz I know my hair has to be dry to straighten it with the iron. Someone please help me clarify this! Thanks

I need help with steps to straightening my hair?
I'm not real sure with the Gel but I imagine that you would apply the gel to damp hair, blow dry and then straighten your hair in layers until the whole head is straightened. I don't apply gel to mine, but mine too has to be dry to straighten I because it's Thick and Naturally Culy which equals.. Frizzzzz. If you have the problem where your hair get real fluffy after you've been in the heat I suggest Aussie Humidity defense spray.. it's the best I have found ;)
Reply:I have dreads. Whats wrong with your natural hair?

Why do so many black women live most of their lives trying to have soemthing they were never meant to have?

Whats wrong with the natural black beautiful you?

They said nappy was bad and retarded, brain-washed black men sold into...

Be you. If they don't like it... So what...

And if by chance you're not black, which I doubt, whats wrong with your natrual hair still??? Be you!!!
Reply:You definitely want to get a LEAVE ON conditioner. I don't know if that is what iron guard is but it is important to your hair's health that, in addition to wash away conditioner, that you get a leave on.

1. Wash your hair with shampoo. Rinse.

2. Apply conditioner, work it in mostly towards the middle to tip of your hair. (Your hair should have plenty of oils towards the roots. Applying conditioner there might result in an excessively 'oily' look) Rinse.

3. Brush out your hair and apply leave on conditioner.

4. Using a hair dryer set on medium heat, blow out your hair using your fingers as a comb until your hair is 80% dry.

5. Then use a round brush to straighten your hair with the hair dryer.

6. Then, split your hair in sections. Once in the middle vertically, then in the middle horizontally.

7. Depending on comfortability, split those sections when necessary only putting a small amount of hair through the straightening iron at a time. DO NOT leave hair in their long or else it will burn!

8. Do this process and go over any piece you feel you want straighter and smoother.

The straightening iron is NOT the only tool you need to straighten your hair and should never be used on wet hair. It should also never be used without some sort of conditioner or guard when your hair is dry.

DON'T EVER use the hair straightening as your only tool. It can cause extensive damage to your hair.

Hope I could help!!
Reply:put the biosilk therapy on after towel drying, then use a blowdryer and a round brush to dry your hair you can apply the silk therapy to dry hair to help smooth out but use sparingly when dry
Reply:wait until your hair is dry before you straight iron.
Reply:i think u can apply it either wet or dry... but either way you have to wait until your hair completely dries afterwards... and when u finally get to the straightening part make sure u use small pieces of hair and dont hold the iron in one spot for too long
Reply:Sorry I'm accually not sure, when I straighten my hair anything on it. I usually just blow dry my hair and then put it into a half ponytail. That way it is easier to straighten it, rather then in big clumps.
Reply:Like you said, put the shampoo and conditioner on first in the shower. The put the iron gaurd on and do it while your hair is wet. Then iron your hair. I have a CHI and so does my older sister. She straightens her hair everyday and uses gel after her hair is dry to keep it straight.
Reply:Wash and condition your hair. Towel dry. Apply the silk gel and dry hair with a blow dryer. While you're blow drying your hair turn the flat iron on to warm up. After your hair is dry take small sections and apply the flat iron to them. Start at the root and go straight down. Do NOT let that flat iron sit on your hair too long. And don't apply the flat iron everyday. You will damage your hair. You have a really good iron. Have fun!
Reply:i stay as far away as possible to all those products and just easily simply use an old heavy iron! but i'd read the instructions! sometimes you can iron your hair wet! if it is a expensive fancy set then yeah you prolly could do it wet! id do it dry and read the instructions first b4 anything!!
Reply:put the iron gaurd on your hair wet and blow it dry.... then straighten.

if you put it on dry hair after it is blown dry, it will make it like weird. its happened to me before. i have a chi. it doesnt work that well if you put the iron guard stuff on dry hair and then straighten.
Reply:i dont know what all that is but when i straighten my hair.... shampoo and condition... then i use something for the flyaways by redkin..(sp) then when its dry i straighten it.
Reply:i dunno read the directions on the back of the bottle, it'll say apply when wet or dry...
Reply:helpful tips.

USUALLY...

if something is a gel like substance (he resistance gel) you put it on while your hair is wet, and then comb it through and blow dry it (or just let it dry).

if it is a spray...after showering..wait for your hair to dry, and then put it on, brush it through, and run the straitener on it
Reply:put it on after its dry, before you straigten.
